My Websites, Logos, and Print Works
MCC-SUN Logo
Illustrator
Pro Bono. Hagerstown Community College is one of the leading schools in Maryland using pioneering simulation technologies to educate their nursing students. As a key player within a larger user network, HCC needed a simple logo to be representative of their efforts in this relatively new area of clinical education and to utilize their existing color scheme. With that in mind, I based the figure of the logo on DaVinci's "Vitruvian Man" and a play on the 'SUN' portion of the group's acronym.
Winding Trails HOA Site
Illustrator, Photoshop, HTML, CSS
Freelance Client. Winding Trails Homeowner's Association in Wildwood, Missouri contacted me to build a simple Wordpress-driven site for disseminating information to association members. The design is custom templated, fully manageable by the client, and employs a sprinkling of HTML5/CSS3.
Relazene Microsite
Illustrator, Photoshop, HTML, CSS
Freelance Client. Healthy Directions, LLC contracted me to redesign and rebuild a microsite-style landing page for their new Relazene Stress Relief product. Backend integration with the e-commerce server was completed by another outside vendor.
Mercersburg Academy
Illustrator, Photoshop, HTML, CSS
In-House Design. Working for Mercersburg Academy I was tasked with locating a new vendor for the provision and hosting of a new CMS. We chose WhippleHill as our new strategic partner, and as webmaster I was responsible for designing the new site and managing the migration to WhippleHill's Podium platform. All backend implementation was carried out by WhippleHill.

Avarice Poster
Illustrator, Photoshop, Digital Photography
Freelance Client. In October 2008, Bob Peters, a local reptile enthusiast, put on a live reptile show at HCC's Kepler Theater. I was responsible for the promotional materials, including this gig poster. Photography was taken in front of a green screen and all embellishments were added in Photoshop.
Personal Wedding Invitations
Illustrator, InDesign
Personal. I designed, assembled, and mailed these wedding invitations personally. A color palette of warm, earth tones was chosen to compliment the season, and utilized a marbled, matte-coated paper to achieve that goal. The invitations were printed and cut by CopyQuik of Hagerstown, Maryland.
National Geographic Email Test
HTML, Photoshop
Freelance Client. This test was an evaluative piece done for the National Geographic Society. Its purpose was to test the designer's (my) ability to highlight the featured photographer, as well as their web series revolving around Africa. A secondary goal was to maximize the effectiveness of imagery without making the piece too bandwidth intensive.
Dr. David Williams' Subscriber Center
HTML, CSS, Photoshop, Illustrator
In-House Design. This microsite is an exclusive site designed for the subscribers to Dr. David Williams' Alternatives Newsletter. The purpose of this site is to offer a limited number of archived newsletters and some supplemental information not available on Dr. William's e-commerce site. Adhering to the in-house branding was paramount, in addition to creating a premium atmosphere that would entice subscribers to extend their subscriptions or purchase back issues.
BeautySnap Logo
Illustrator, Photoshop
In-House Design. Healthy Directions marketing department approached me to create a mark for their new, online-only brand, BeautySnap. They wanted the prospective buyers of BeautySnap-related products, women ages 40 to 60, to receive Daily Candy-style offers that would bear this mark. The logo and secondary imagery needed to have a modern edge to it, playing to a more refined and savvy buyer, while simultaneously evoking thoughts of femininity and youth. The logotype is set in Futura.
Tokitikki Design Logo
Illustrator, Photoshop
Freelance Client. For Tokitikki Design's latest holiday jewelry sale, the client asked me to refresh her identity. The logo needed to keep an air of simplicity and playfulness about it, but as the client's designs have progressed, and matured, there became a need for the mark to appear more upscale. The font is my own modified version of Bickham Script Pro. Additionally this logo has been used in print and web mailings, and will appear on the upcoming revision to tokitikkidesign.com
Whitetail Ski Resort Fun Book
Illustrator, Quark,
Reference Photography
Pro Bono / Design Instruction. The head of Whitetail Ski Resort's Guest Services Department approached the Hagerstown Business College (now Kaplan College) Graphic Design program to develop an educational coloring book for young skiers. Along with another instructor, I served as Art Director for students who were responsible for creating the concepts and designs of the educational games. Additional responsibilities included photographing the reference images for the illustrations, multi-page layout in Quark, and the illustration & layout of the Acknowledgements page.
