My Websites, Logos, and Print Works
Personal Wedding Invitations
Illustrator, InDesign
Personal. For our October 2005 wedding, I designed, assembled, and mailed our invitations personally. I wanted the design to be symbolic of our relationship, and mutual growth as one. A color palette of warm, earth tones was chosen to compliment the season, and utilized a marbled, matte-coated paper to achieve that goal. The invitations were printed and cut by CopyQuik of Hagerstown, Maryland.
National Geographic Email Test
HTML, Photoshop
Freelance. This test was an evaluative piece done for the National Geographic Society. Its purpose was to test the designer's (my) ability to highlight the featured photographer, as well as their web series revolving around Africa. A secondary goal was to maximize the effectiveness of imagery without making the piece too bandwidth intensive.
Dr. David Williams' Subscriber Center
HTML, CSS, Photoshop, Illustrator
In-House Design. This microsite is an exclusive site designed for the subscribers to Dr. David Williams' Alternatives Newsletter. The purpose of this site is to offer a limited number of archived newsletters and some supplemental information not available on Dr. William's e-commerce site. Adhering to the in-house branding was paramount, in addition to creating a premium atmosphere that would entice subscribers to extend their subscriptions or purchase back issues.
BeautySnap Logo
Illustrator, Photoshop
Employer. Healthy Directions marketing department approached me to create a mark for their new, online-only brand, BeautySnap. They wanted the prospective buyers of BeautySnap-related products, women ages 40 to 60, to receive Daily Candy-style offers that would bear this mark. The logo and secondary imagery needed to have a modern edge to it, playing to a more refined and savvy buyer, while simultaneously evoking thoughts of femininity and youth. The logotype is set in Futura.
Tokitikki Design Logo - Version 4
Illustrator, Photoshop
Freelance. For Tokitikki Design's latest holiday jewelry sale, the client asked me to refresh her identity. The logo needed to keep an air of simplicity and playfulness about it, but as the client's designs have progressed, and matured, there became a need for the mark to appear more upscale. The font is my own modified version of Bickham Script Pro. Additionally this logo has been used in print and web mailings, and will appear on the upcoming revision to tokitikkidesign.com
Tokitikki Design Website - Version 3
HTML, CSS, Illustrator, Photoshop
Freelance. Tokitikki Design is a longstanding client. I was approached by Maigen Taverner in 2002 to create a website she could use to display and sell her handmade jewelry. The site is in its third revision and this version was my first purely CSS layout. A fourth iteration will be debuted sometime in Winter 2008.
Whitetail Ski Resort Fun Book
Illustrator, Quark,
Reference Photography
Pro Bono / Design Instruction. The head of Whitetail Ski Resort's Guest Services Department approached the Hagerstown Business College (now Kaplan College) Graphic Design program to develop an educational coloring book for young skiers. Along with another instructor, I served as Art Director for students who were responsible for creating the concepts and designs of the educational games. Additional responsibilities included photographing the reference images for the illustrations, multi-page layout in Quark, and the illustration & layout of the Acknowledgements page.
